| Welcome
to St. Paul's Lutheran!
All our worship at St. Paul’s is focused
on the worship and praise of God. We believe as a Christian congregation
and as individual Christians, that who we are and what we have
are all gifts from God. Worship at St. Paul’s means stepping
into the presence of God. In worship, God speaks to us, we receive
the love God has for us and we respond with prayer, praise and
thanksgiving. Our goal in all our worship services is to provide
relevant, Bible-based messages and invite you to engage in Christ-centered
worship. All our worship services are a safe place to come seek
the Lord and His salvation and blessing in Christ Jesus.
To encourage
this, we offer:
- Multiple worship opportunities each weekend
- Special
festival services throughout the church year
- Special
music from our adult and children musicians
- A
friendly and welcoming environment to worship
- Great
fellowship through which to grow and serve each other
We encourage all of our members to worship Him
regularly as an expression of our gratitude to Him. We offer the
following regular opportunities for worship:
- Saturday Evening 5:00 p.m. - Traditional
Worship (Downtown Church, Kankakee)
- Sunday Morning 8:30 a.m. -
Traditional Worship (School Location, Bourbonnais)
- 11:05 a.m.
- Contemporary Worship (School Location, Bourbonnais)
Worship Services - What are the Differences?
Traditional
Our traditional worship services incorporate
basics of traditional liturgy as well as traditional hymns. We
follow the worship services from the “Lutheran Service
Book” hymnal using the organ as the main instrument to
lead worship. You will hear Scripture readings and inspirational
sermons. Occasionally, our worship is enriched by one of our
adult or children’s choirs, a vocal ensemble, or soloist,
or handbell choir. A printed bulletin will comfortably guide
you through the service along with projection screens at the
new school location. Traditional altar and pastors’ robes
remind us of ancient, meaningful traditions.
Contemporary
Our contemporary worship services offer a more
informal experience than our traditional services. In this worship
service, we blend new and traditional worship resources, with
contemporary music, songs and litanies. We are led in worship
by our contemporary band and song leaders. This service also
brings you Scripture readings and inspirational sermons. Occasionally,
our worship is enriched by one of our adult or children’s
choirs, a vocal ensemble, or soloist, or handbell choir. A printed
bulletin will comfortably guide you through the service along
with projection screens at the new school location. While there
is a traditional altar and pastors dress in robes, it ties the
ancient worship of the church with the words and music of today.
Childcare is provided for those with younger children.
